I am a serious student of photography, and art, and as such I joined DA to study the portion of photography that is far too underrepresented in real world galleries, mainly artistic nudes, fetish nudes, and even erotic art.
What I have seen here is people dancing over imaginary lines. Artists who seriously hold back work in order to avoid penile erectness or labia spreading, because of DAs mature use content policy. Also, because the classifications are "Artistic Nudes" and "Fetish Photography", the issue of Erotic Art being shoe horned into these categories, often wrongly.
My suggestion, which I plan to present to DA, is that the category of Erotic Art be added to the available choices, and that this section have relaxed content standards, in exchange for the following
1. Content submitted to this section must have an accompanying age certificate for all models.
2. Admission to section for viewing requires age authentication, possibly a disclaimer
3. Sub-categories be added to divide photography, drawings, digital art, etc.

Well good idea. Some famous surrealist masters and Mapplethorpe and a few other very accomplished photographers (Jock Sturges?) might be excluded under the current policy. Aesthetic value alone should be the criteria... In a long and expensive attempt, the DA in Northern Calif in the 1990s (!) could NOT get a grand jury to indict Jock Sturges - a colleague of mine at Stanford on that jury - who helped bring his fellow jurors around to more civilized and enlightened thinking...Beauty alone should be the only criteria... However, on that basis, a fair amount of unpretentious
